October Highlights

IKCA Families at Pacific FC Game in Starlight Stadium Langford

IKCA families enjoyed a thrilling Pacific FC match against Cavalry on October 5th! We were treated to the comfort of box seats, providing a special, private space to connect while cheering on an exciting 3-3 draw!

The afternoon’s “Kids Take Over” theme brought the fun, filling the sunny stadium with bouncy castles, face painting, games, balloon creations, and mini doughnuts for the kiddos.

Our IKCA tent in the family zone hosted a gift basket giveaway and provided a valuable opportunity to share information about the support we offer families facing childhood cancer. Thank you, Pacific FC, for your incredible partnership, for helping us raise awareness, and for creating such a joyful and lasting experience for our families!

Produce Delivery

One of Island Kids Cancer Association’s most cherished initiatives, the Produce Delivery Program, brings fresh, seasonal produce directly to the homes of families affected by childhood cancer throughout the year. Thanks to our partnership with Islands West Produce and collaboration with LUSH Valley Food Action Society, who assemble boxes filled with local fruits, vegetables, eggs, and bread, and the dedication of our volunteer drivers, these nourishing deliveries reach families across Vancouver Island.

In our most recent round, nearly 90 produce boxes were shared, offering not just healthy food, but also care and connection from the community. Each delivery is a heartfelt reminder that families facing childhood cancer are not alone.

IKCA Families Enjoy Fantastic Fall Farm Fun!

In late October, nearly 100 individuals supported by IKCA, gathered for a memorable day of fall celebration. This annual tradition took place across two locations: Parksville’s Silver Meadows Farm and Victoria’s Galey Farms.

Families revelled in the beautiful season. Enjoying a relaxed, outdoor space to connect and create cherished memories. Highlights of the day included: photo opportunities amidst an amazing pumpkin display, a farm adventure on a scenic train and traditional hay rides. The challenge of exploring the winding corn maze, thrill seekers braving the excitement of the haunted house and the chance to pick their very own perfect pumpkin!

A huge thank you to Silver Meadows Farm and Galey Farms for their tremendous enthusiasm. Every year, their spectacular fall displays seem to outdo the last, making these farms the perfect setting to get out, enjoy the fresh air, and deepen connections within the IKCA community.
